ate! Uzbek cuisine "Vatanim" in Takadanobaba-Taste mutton gravy with bread!

Mutton and bread. Simple is Best

I went to the Uzbek / Kyrgyz restaurant "Vatanim" in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. The exotic lunch menu, where you eat a soft stew of lamb with a tightly packed bread, is highly satisfying.

A small shop on Waseda-dori

Vatanim is in the middle of Waseda-dori, which extends from Takadanobaba to Higashi-Nakano. You can reach it from either station, but during the cherry blossom season, you can walk a little along the Kanda River from Higashi-Nakano.

Small shop

When you enter the store, the counter is small and the baked bread is lined up in a basket. It has a round and pretty shape. The name is "Non". The lunch menu is plentiful. I ordered "Siltama", a stewed lamb recommended by the shop staff. The price is 1,000 yen (excluding tax, the same applies below) with non-contained items.

Bread and mutton!

Characteristic Bread "Non"

Clogged but not as good as bagels, with a nice scent of wheat

First from the non-set. It is oval with a dented center and an ammonite-like pattern. It's heavy and clogged, but it's not as hard as a bagel, and it's not as hard to the touch. It has a nice scent of wheat.

Simmered lamb "Sultama". It's warm.

Then Sultama arrived. Stewed mutton, sprinkled with onion slices and served with french fries. Simple seasoning but delicious. The fat is oozing out, and it seems that the butter is used instead of the butter to suck it and eat it.

You can eat it as it is

Mutton has a strong habit and is nice for sheep lovers. It stands out when eaten with onion slices. You can enjoy it even more by chewing it alternately with bread or at the same time.

There aren't many dishes, but I don't get tired of eating them and the volume is enough.
page Since it's a big deal, sweets and tea

Lemon cake and honey tea

I asked for it

However, I decided to order sweets and tea as well. Lemon cake "Tvorjiniy" and Kyrgyz honey tea "Asal choi". They are 350 yen and 400 yen, respectively.

The dough is fluffy and the cheese is refreshing yogurt

Lemon cake uses homemade cottage cheese and has a refreshing yogurt-like taste. Plenty of berries are on the dough. It's a gentle sweetness.

Honey tea was brewed in a metal pot. You can scoop up the attached white honey and put it in the pot as it is.

This is Honey

The honey seemed to be very large, but when melted and drunk, the sweetness was not strong. A flavor that can be enjoyed with cake, just by giving a slight softness to black tea that smells like flowers.

It's OK to put it directly in the pot

Unexpectedly slightly sweet. It goes well with cakes.

By the way, many of the lunch menus can be ordered at the same price for dinner. To go is also possible. It might be interesting to stop by while taking a walk on the Kanda River.
