7-ELEVEN's "Cold Tom Yum Noodle"

I tried the new product "Cold Tom Yum Noodle with Rice Flour Noodles" (594 yen including tax), which was released on July 4 at 7-ELEVEN. In the hot season, we crave ethnic food, don't we? It looks delicious with lots of vegetables and shrimps!

Topped with three shrimp. Vegetables include bean sprouts, lettuce, onions, shimeji mushrooms, and tomatoes. Personally, I am glad that the tomatoes are cut into larger pieces.

How does the cold Tom Yum Noodle taste?

I took a sip of the soup first...yum! The creaminess of the coconut milk is well balanced by the spicy flavor of the spices and chili peppers. It is a chili pepper taste on the tongue and throat! The soup has a perfect balance of mild richness and spiciness, and the coolness is pleasant, making it the type of soup that you can drink up in gulps...!

The rice flour noodles are smooth and silky, and can be easily chewed. It is the best to mix this light noodle with the thick, rich, spicy soup and slurp it up! The noodles are as thick as udon noodles, so they will fill you up.

The vegetables, especially the onions, are thickly sliced and fresh, and the lettuce and bean sprouts are crunchy! The lettuce and bean sprouts are also crispy! The smooth shimeji mushrooms add a change of texture. The shrimp are thick and plump, and the three prawns in the dish make it a satisfying meal. The sweet and juicy tomatoes are a perfect palate cleanser.

The soup was authentic and the noodles and ingredients were hearty and very tasty! The only regret is that the crunchiness is weak. The ingredients list coriander (pakuchi), so it is in the soup (probably as a spice), but there were no leaves or toppings, and I would have liked to experience a little more of that unique aroma... to be honest. So I ate the second half of the dish with some Pakuchi that I had at home.

It may be a little insufficient for those who like crunchy food, but on the other hand, for those who like ethnic food but are not so fond of crunchy food, it is easy to eat and just right for you! Anyway, it is definitely recommended as a summer lunch!
