Matsuya's "Bibim-don" is back in full force!
Bibimbap is back in full force! Don't go anywhere else.

Matsuya's "Bibim-don

Matsuya's Bibim-don (rice bowl with beef and pork) has made a complete comeback, and after a face-off between the new Bibim-don and the traditional pork Bibim-don in May, the latter won and became a regular menu item in September. As a fan of the traditional bibindon, I couldn't miss it and had it as soon as I could.

From September, it's back to the "usual" bibimbap bowl!

Bibim-don is a dish that had a strong following but had disappeared from the regular menu. In response to its popularity, Matsuya considered reviving the dish, and in May, the company announced that it would sell the traditional bibimbap rice bowl with pork and the new bibimbap rice bowl with beef at different stores, with the one with more orders becoming a regular item.

Pork bibimbap bowl wins!

Pork bibimbap rice bowl won out, probably because many people loved the old flavor, and it finally went on sale again in September. It is made with pork, half-boiled egg, chopped green onions, and chopped nori (seaweed) on rice, stir-fried on the griddle with root vegetables and kimchi, and topped with sweet and spicy sauce flavored with gochujang.

The pork, kimchi, and kinpira are served separately on top of the rice bowl, so you can enjoy them separately as a side dish with rice. You can also use a spoon to break the half-boiled egg and mix all the ingredients together like bibimbap before serving.

The seasoning is the same as the one we sold in May. The sweet and spicy sauce is moderately thick, and the umami of the pork is kept to a minimum. Kinpira is crispy and crunchy, and the kimchi, which is mainly made of Chinese cabbage, has a squeaky texture that adds a nice accent when eaten with the tender pork. Priced at 490 yen (tax included). Miso soup is included.
