I went to the Uzbek / Kyrgyz restaurant "Vatanim" in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. The exotic lunch menu, where you eat a soft stew of lamb with a tightly packed bread, is highly satisfying.
A small shop on Waseda-dori
Vatanim is in the middle of Waseda-dori, which extends from Takadanobaba to Higashi-Nakano. You can reach it from either station, but during the cherry blossom season, you can walk a little along the Kanda River from Higashi-Nakano.When you enter the store, the counter is small and the baked bread is lined up in a basket. It has a round and pretty shape. The name is "Non". The lunch menu is plentiful. I ordered "Siltama", a stewed lamb recommended by the shop staff. The price is 1,000 yen (excluding tax, the same applies below) with non-contained items.
Bread and mutton!
First from the non-set. It is oval with a dented center and an ammonite-like pattern. It's heavy and clogged, but it's not as hard as a bagel, and it's not as hard to the touch. It has a nice scent of wheat.
Then Sultama arrived. Stewed mutton, sprinkled with onion slices and served with french fries. Simple seasoning but delicious. The fat is oozing out, and it seems that the butter is used instead of the butter to suck it and eat it.
Mutton has a strong habit and is nice for sheep lovers. It stands out when eaten with onion slices. You can enjoy it even more by chewing it alternately with bread or at the same time.
There aren't many dishes, but I don't get tired of eating them and the volume is enough.
