Turnip with Ginger Sauce

Ingredients (2 servings)

2 turnips
1 teaspoon grated ginger
2 tablespoons soy sauce and mirin
1 tablespoon sake
2 teaspoons sesame oil

Directions

Separate root and leaves of turnip and slice root into 1 cm pieces. Cut leaves into 3-4 cm lengths. Mix ginger, soy sauce, mirin and sake in a container to make sauce.

Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and fry sliced turnips on both sides. When the color changes, add the leaves and fry.

Once the leaves are coated with oil, pour the sauce over the leaves and toss to coat. Simmer quickly over high heat to complete the dish (it is OK if some of the sauce remains moist).

How does it taste?

The texture of the tender and shiny turnip is combined with a thick, sweet and spicy sauce that makes the rice go faster! The spiciness of the ginger adds a punch.

Since the leaves can be cooked at the same time, there is no need to leave them in the refrigerator until they are soggy...! It's easy and tasty, so give it a try.
