What is Friuli-style frico?
I've been eating Friuli-style frico, a new menu item with an unfamiliar name that started in July at the Italian restaurant Saizeriya.

The price at Saizeriya is 299 yen (tax included). It appears in a deep brown dish. When you put a spoon in, you will find sticky mashed potatoes under the crunchy cheese. The taste is very simple, with only the distinct flavors of potato and cheese.

It is salty enough to be enjoyed with a glass of wine, but even with a dash of Tabasco, which is provided, the flavor was not overpowering.

The volume of this dish is smaller than that of gratin or doria, so it is perfect for those who like cheese-based dishes but consider the quantity too large.
