However, the focus this time is not on eggs but on meat (ostrich meat). Women pursuing beauty are paying attention to it as "healthy and nutritious."

I have an image that looks like a beast, but honestly, is it delicious? I went to a restaurant where ostrich meat is served, and I went to eat it.

I visited the Italian restaurant "VESTA", which has two stores in Tokyo. Here, "Ostrich meat 3-point steak" (3,400 yen) is offered as a regular menu. The interview date was February 9th, "Meat Day", so I ordered the limited menu "VESTA Meat Plate" (2,900 yen). I tried to compare it with other meats.

A variety of meat is served on the large plate that came. A total of 7 types including duck, Iberian pig, aging beef (aged beef), lamb (lamb), beef harami, amber chicken, and ostrich meat! At first glance, you can't tell which meat is what, let alone ostrich meat.

When I checked with the clerk, the beautiful lean meat was ostrich meat (in the photo, the third type from the right). It looks like beef, but it has a richer, more crimson hue. There is no fat found in duck or chicken. Is it close to the image of lean beef with extremely little fat? Is it delicious or has a terrible odor? Anyway, it looks like it has a strong taste.

However, I was surprised to try it. It was surprisingly pale. It can be said that it has no taste, and I do not feel the habit of duck meat or the smell of beasts. Among the 7 types, it has a very light taste. The meat had a texture but was tender and of very high quality.

This "whiteness" is the main feature of ostrich meat. It has a very light taste because it is low in fat.

But it may be too pale and a little unsatisfactory. The restaurant usually serves tartar-like mayonnaise sauce, wasabi salt, oriental-flavored mango spicy butter, and sudachi so that even such people can enjoy it. This time, I prepared it specially, but I recommend mango spicy butter to make up for the lack of fat, and wasabi salt if you want to taste the flavor of meat. Wasabi salt went well with other meats.

By the way, this VESTA meat plate is limited to once a year for meat days because it says "If you do it every month, you will be in a big deficit ... (bitter smile)". It was the first attempt this year, but it was planned to be implemented next year and beyond.

Following last year's lean meat, ostrich meat may be exciting this year. It's expensive because the distribution volume is small, but you can buy it online, so think you've been fooled and try it.
