The first "sweet udon" in the history of Tsurutontan, released in the summer of 2013. It is an amazing menu that combines udon with cream and fruits. The winter version of "Mont Blanc Udon with Purple Taro" and "Udon with Cheese Cream and Berry Jam" is on sale.

This is a kind of "winter special" menu, but the author noticed its existence. I heard that it is still available and went to eat! The summer "sweet udon" had a refreshing taste that was a fusion of the "Japanese" and "Western" ingredients of the udon, but what kind of taste is this time?

Arrived at a certain store in Tokyo. When I try to order immediately, I am asked to choose the thickness of the noodles. By the way, it was the same in summer. You can choose between normal-thick thick noodles and thin noodles about the size of Hiyamugi, but thin noodles are recommended. This time, for comparison, I ordered "Purple taro Mont Blanc udon" with thin noodles and "Cheese cream and berry jam udon" with regular noodles.

First of all, the purple potato Mont Blanc udon (1,000 yen) arrived. The toppings are purple potato cream, sweet potato, azuki bean, persimmon, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Unlike the two summer dishes, it is completely dry. In other words, instead of eating the noodles and toppings together, you end up eating them separately. Even if you try scooping it with a lotus, you see, it's udon.

Hmm? Zero juice ...?

It can't be helped even if it's vague, so I'll try eating each topping part. First of all, the most prominent purple potato cream (paste?). That color is familiar as a souvenir from Okinawa. With a light taste and sweetness, it has a purple potato-like taste. The sweet potatoes that are attached next to it are also cooked sweetly, but the sweetness is modest because the seasoning itself is light. Compared to these two, Azuki felt a little sweeter. But this sweetness is the best match with vanilla ice cream.

It is recommended to eat udon with azuki beans and whipped cream when the vanilla ice cream has melted. It will soften the sweetness of azuki beans and whipped cream. It is difficult to mix other toppings and eat them together, so eat them between noodles. You can eat it like pickles with chopsticks resting.

Enjoy with melted ice cream!

On the other hand, cheese cream and berry jam udon (980 yen) is a Western-style menu like cheesecake. Colorful berries and berry jam, wafers and ice cream are topped on the usual thickness of noodles.

Cheese cream has a strong acidity and has a very smooth flavor like a rare cheesecake. The ice cream is a mix of vanilla ice cream and strawberry ice cream. This strawberry ice cream also has a moderate acidity, so you can eat it refreshingly with vanilla ice cream. Of course, it goes well with berry jam and berries.

By the way, if you combine it with the leading udon noodles ... this may have different tastes. The taste of udon is superior to that of cheese cream, and the well-balanced aroma of cheese fades. Certainly, this seems to be more suitable for thin noodles. However, it goes well with berry jam. As the ice cream melts, you can enjoy the change in taste.

Undoubtedly, it was udon

I ate and compared two types, Japanese and Western, but this time the Japanese "Purple potato Mont Blanc udon" won. How much does it go well with Japanese ingredients? Especially, the combination with Hokkuri Azuki is recommended.

The two menus this time are not refreshing, but have a relaxed and relaxed taste. Rather than dessert after a meal, it is a dish that you would like to have with coffee or hot tea at tea time. However, one udon noodle is heavy for a snack, so you may want to order a half size. Sales are scheduled for the end of February. It's limited to 7 stores nationwide, so please check the stores before you go!
