Toraya has announced on its official website that "Ohagi" will be available as a traditional confectionery for the autumnal equinox season. The price is 324 yen per piece (tax included).

According to Toraya, the products are made for the seven-day period including the three days before and after the spring and autumnal equinoxes, which falls on September 20, 2022, the start of the autumnal equinoxes. The beginning of the autumnal equinox in 2022 will be on September 20, which marks the change of seasons, as it is said that "hot and cold last until the end of the equinoxes.

The custom of offering "o-hagi" at gravesides and Buddhist altars and distributing them in the neighborhood on the equinoxes spread in the late Edo period and has been handed down to the present day. Toraya offers four types: Ogura-an, brown sugar-an, white bean paste, and soybean flour (with gozen-an). However, kinako (soybean flour) is sold only in Kyoto, and shiroan (white bean paste) is sold outside of Kyoto.
