When it gets chilly, don't you miss other "takikomi gohan"? So, I tried the new "Takikomi Gohan no Motoika and Ginger Rice" from MUJI!

"Takikomi gohan no squid and ginger rice" is a new product in the retort series that allows you to cook rice just by cooking it with rice. This is a cooked rice modeled after Hokkaido's local cuisine, "Ikameshi". It is for 2 rice (2 to 3 servings) and the price is 450 yen (tax included).

When you open the package, you will find a pouch of ingredients made from squid and ginger finished with kelp soup stock and soy sauce, and a pouch of dried green onions.

The rice cooked with squid and ginger is ready! Add dried green onions to the finish, mix and steam for about 10 minutes to complete.

Ummer! The soy sauce base is entwined with kelp and squid umami, doubling the aroma. Ginger has a slightly refreshing scent. The squid is soft and fluffy, and there is no feeling of streaks. Personally, it's okay if it's a little more chewy, but I thought this would be just right for the whole family, from children to the elderly!

The seasoning is solid, and it's more satisfying than I imagined. With this and miso soup, it was a cooked rice with plenty of ingredients that would satisfy me as a lunch meal.
