Hamburger Steak Recipe
Ingredients (2 to 3 servings)
[Hamburger Steak]1 can mackerel (190g (6.7oz))
150g (5.29oz) tofu
chopped green onion a little
ginger (or tube) a little
potato starch 3 tablespoons
[Sauce]
1/2 bag mushrooms
remaining canned mackerel liquid
3 tablespoons soy sauce
100ml (3.38us fl oz) water
2 tablespoons potato starch
Directions
1. Drain the tofu well.2. Combine all the hamburger ingredients and knead well.
3. Shape the hamburger into an airy shape (if it is too runny, add potato starch to adjust)
4. Heat oil in a frying pan, cover with a lid and cook over medium heat
5.After about 3 minutes, turn the hamburger over and when the surface is browned, the hamburger is done.
6.Put sauce ingredients (except potato starch) in frying pan and heat.
7. Thicken the sauce with water-soluble potato starch and the sauce is ready.
8. Pour the sauce over the hamburger steak and top with scallions if desired.
How do mackerel and tofu hamburgers taste?
The hamburger steak is soft and fluffy thanks to the tofu. The finely crushed mackerel bones add a tangy accent. The fresh aroma of ginger and scallion eliminates the tartness of the mackerel, so all that remains is a deep umami flavor. The tofu does not have a distinct flavor, but is only responsible for the texture and volume.The thickened Japanese sauce is also a perfect match. The abundance of mushrooms doubles the flavor.
