At a community support fair at a supermarket, I found "Ningyoyaki" from Asakusa Umezono, a long-established Japanese confectionery! I actually bought and tried one; it comes in a pack of 5 pieces and costs 600 yen (tax not included).

Asakusa Umezono "Ningyoyaki

Umezono is a long-established Japanese confectionery store in Asakusa. It was founded in 1854 when it opened a teahouse in a corner of Umezonoin, a branch temple of Sensoji Temple, and the store name Umezono is said to be related to that. The shop is a member of the Toto Norenkai (Goodwill Association of the Eastern Capital) and the Asakusa Umaimono Kai (Good Food Association of Asakusa).

The "Ningyo-yaki" (doll-shaped pancake) is baked in a mold with the store's original logo. It is filled with a smooth red bean paste made from Hokkaido azuki beans.

The dough is moist and dense. The filling of Koshi-an has a pleasant texture and a light sweetness. The overall sweetness of the dough is recommended to be served with green tea, unsweetened black tea, or coffee.

Although each piece is not particularly large, both the dough and red bean paste are moist, so eating just one is quite satisfying.

The plum-shaped "Ningyoyaki" from the long-established Japanese confectionery Asakusa Umezono looks lovely. Please check out the " Dorayaki " introduced previously as well.
