The price of Lawson's original hot snack "Kara-Age-Kun" will be revised on May 31, from 216 yen before the revision (all prices below include tax) to 238 yen. Prior to the price revision, a one-piece increase sale was held from April 26 to May 9.

Kara-Age Kun" price revision

Kara-Age Kun will be on the market for 36 years on April 15. It is LAWSON's signature product with cumulative sales exceeding 3.7 billion servings (as of the end of March 2022). In addition to the standard "Regular," "Red," "Hokkaido Cheese," and "Lemon Flavor," a total of 321 flavors (as of March 31, 2022) have been developed, including regional flavors based on local ingredients and local menus, and collaborations with anime.


In 2014, the chicken meat was changed to "100% domestic young chicken meat," and in 2018, the flour used for karaage flour was changed to 100% domestic wheat flour (foreign wheat was used in the same line during flour production), and other efforts have been made to improve quality.

For 36 years since its launch, we have maintained the price at 200 yen excluding tax (current price including tax is 216 yen) without raising the price once (except for big size and special specification products) due to innovations in raw material procurement and manufacturing methods, and cooperation from our business partners, but due to the recent sharp rise in raw material prices, packaging materials, transportation costs, etc., we have decided to offer the product at the current price. It has become difficult for us to provide the same level of service to our customers. In order to maintain a safe and stable product supply, the first price revision since its launch will be implemented on May 31.


We will continue to maintain our commitment to using domestically produced ingredients such as chicken and flour, the delicious taste favored by people of all ages, and the low sugar content of our fried foods, with 8 grams of sugar per serving (5 pieces) ("Kara-Age-Kun Regular" and "Kara-Age-Kun Red"). We will continue to make efforts to improve the quality of our products.

As a token of our appreciation for your patronage over the years, a one-unit increase sale will be held for two weeks from April 26 to May 9, prior to the price revision.

The company plans to revise the prices of some of its "Fried Foods," "Machikado Kitchen," and "Daily Foods" products by approximately 6% in terms of tax-included selling prices.
