Nama-hattabashi "Autumn Otabe

Autumn Otabe" is an autumn limited edition of nama-hattabashi (fresh yatsuhashi). It is available until late November, and is priced at 550 yen (tax not included) for a package of 10 pieces.

What is noteworthy before eating is its packaging. The warm, seasonal design is based on a scene of a gate in autumn in Kyoto, created by cutout artist Osamu Kubo. You can feel the autumn with your eyes first.

Chestnut red bean paste

Chestnut red bean paste filled with mashed chestnuts is wrapped in a white nama-hattabashi (raw yatsuhashi bridge) without any nikki. The texture of the chestnuts in the moist, chewy nama-hatsubashi is a nice accent. The absence of Nikki (Japanese sweet) allows the rich aroma of chestnuts to be fully appreciated. This is a different way to enjoy chestnuts from Western confections such as Mont Blanc and marron ice cream, and is a unique way to enjoy chestnuts in a Japanese confectionery.

Murasaki Imo An (Purple Sweet Potato An)

A sweet made with a bright purple sweetpotato bean paste cooked until soft and chewy, wrapped in a white fresh yatsuhashi. The texture is stickier and smoother than chestnut red bean paste. The sweetness of the "double sweet potato" (purple sweet potato and sweet potato) fills your mouth with a rich sweetness. The aroma of soybean flour comes in afterwards.

Both have an autumnal flavor that makes you want to drink warm Japanese tea with them. It is also a nice way to experience the season with nama-yatsuhashi.
