The acceptance of applications for the "National Center Test for University Admissions", which is scheduled for January, is over, and studying for the exam is finally on its way.

When I got stuck in studying, I wanted to eat Doraemon's "Ankipan" all day long, but is there anything that makes me smarter in the first place? You're only interested in information that doesn't appear in reference books.

To get that hint, I visited an event to commemorate the publication of the recipe book "Brain-raising recipes taught by the University of Tokyo Cooking Lovers Association" released on October 4.

What is the "brain-raising recipe" that active University of Tokyo students think of?

◆ “Smart brain starts with daily meals” !? What is a “brain-raising recipe”?

This book is a recipe book created by members of the "University of Tokyo Cooking Lovers Association", a cooking circle centered on students of the University of Tokyo, based on their experience of taking exams and the dishes they actually ate. The circle has published two recipe books in the past, and this time, the third one, focuses on collaborative recipes that utilize Thermos's heat-retaining cooker "Shuttle Chef".

In addition to the circle members, Rei Kikukawa, an actress from the University of Tokyo, will also appear as a guest at the event commemorating the publication. He talked about cooking episodes related to his childhood and taking an examination.

Mr. Kikukawa says, "I've eaten a lot of my favorite" natto "since I was a kid." Soybeans are very good for the brain.

By the way, according to a survey conducted by Data House on 103 active students of the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University, the ingredients often served at home are "meat" (74.8%), "fish" (67%), and "green and yellow vegetables". "(59.2%) showed a high percentage. In addition to this, various ingredients such as fruits and dairy products are listed, and it seems that many households are careful about their eating habits.

◆ I actually tried the brain-raising menu

In this recipe book, recipes that use these ingredients in a well-balanced manner are introduced in five categories: "live brain," "stamina," "breakfast," "supper," and "physical condition management." At the event, four items were served: "Brain power up fish burger", "Kirimochi de sweet potato okowa style", "Mustard sauce game pork", and "Meatballs and vermicelli nourishing soup".

"Brain power up fish burger", which is a hamburger made by combining sardines containing DHA and potatoes, is an idea recipe that has a smooth texture and is very easy to eat. Although the flavor of sardines can be felt firmly, there is no fishy smell, and it seems to be good for children who are not good at blue fish.

Also, the idea of cooking Okowa-style rice, which you want to eat on the morning of the test, by adding cut rice cakes and sweet potatoes to ordinary rice is fresh. It has a chewy texture and can be chewed naturally, so it seems to be a good stimulus for the brain as well as an energy source.

The shuttle chef is a strong ally of this brain-raising recipe. Put the cooking pot that has been cooked for a short time in a heat-retaining container, and then use the residual heat to cook it, which reduces the labor and burden of cooking.

Due to the vacuum insulation structure, cooking is completed just by putting the pot in and leaving it.

Among them, the stew using pork was the one that made the best use of the characteristics of the shuttle chef. The meat is very tender and unravels in the mouth, and the taste is well absorbed. If you can get this texture without putting it on the fire for a long time, busy mothers will be saved.

Of course, eating such a menu does not definitely increase your exam score. However, I think that it will lead to building a body that demonstrates the best performance of the accumulated efforts. Why don't you use it as a reference for "brain raising" of your family as well as children?
