An event to lift the ban was held at Sanrio Puroland (Tama City, Tokyo) the other day, and I, a Gudetama fan, came to support the event.
Gudetama was limping throughout the event, but thanks to the efforts of his sidekick, Fake Tama, the event seemed to be a success.
By the way, this was my first visit to Puroland, even though I'm a big Sanrio fan. I was so excited to walk around, and I found a lot of Sanrio's unique food menus, so I'll introduce some of them to you!
Cooked but unmotivated "Gudetama
First of all, the original Gudetama menu "Gudaraisu" (1,200 yen) and "Anindofu Mental II" (500 yen), sold only during the Gudetama event. The Gudetama on top of the apricot bean curd was mango pudding. Both of them look like they're about to start chattering away... I hope I can eat them again someday.
I hope I can eat them again someday. Popular characters also become gourmet!
Next is the popular "Kuromi's Black Curry" (1,200 yen), available at the "Character Food Court. At first glance, you can tell it's Kuromi. The curry is pitch black but mildly sweet. It's also quite hearty.
The palm-sized Hello Kitty in the showcase is the "Kitty Daifuku" (200 yen). The rice cake is filled with custard or chocolate flavored bean paste.
The Dream Cafe, with its limited-time cafe menu, is the perfect place to take a break.
Kitty's baked doughnuts, a popular menu item, are available plain for 190 yen and chocolate coated for 220 yen. They come individually wrapped, so they make great souvenirs.
On the day we visited, the Halloween menu was on sale, so we also bought the "My Melody Pumpkin Cupcake" (400 yen). The My Melody topping is also edible.
Of course, these are just a few. At Sanrio Puroland, there are always many "cute to look at and delicious to eat" food menus inspired by the various characters. The attractions and shopping are fun, but don't forget to try the food!
By the way, I heard that the ban on Gudetama was lifted after the three-day event. Let's look forward to his future activities!
