Chocolat Aronia" is a product jointly developed by ORBIS and Chocolate Design, which operates a chocolate specialty store. It is a chocolate ganache containing aronia sandwiched between cookies. It contains no whipped cream and is said to be lower in calories than conventional products.

Sadly, the aronia fruit itself is not sweet, and I have heard rumors that it has only a bitter, astringent taste.

We decided to try the "Chocolat Aronia" to see what it tasted like!

The box is cute and looks like it could be given as a gift. When I opened it, I found three individually wrapped "chocolat aronia" inside.

Take a bite. The cookie part is bitter and savory, with a light texture that melts in your mouth. And the ganache inside... It's so rich! The cacao is so rich! The bitterness is irresistible to bitter chocolate fans, and there is a hint of berry acidity. It's like eating a chocolate bonbon filled with alcohol!

The bitter chocolate and the fruit acidity in perfect harmony. The ganache melts on the tongue and is so smooth, even though there is no cream. This is honestly delicious. You can give it to someone as a gift, but if possible, I would like to eat the whole thing by myself.

Chocolat Aronia" is now on sale at the Rakuten Shop, Vanilla Sugar Printemps Ginza store, and Vanilla Beans Minatomirai flagship store, which opened today (January 18). How about treating yourself to a not-too-sweet, adult-tasting chocolat?
