MUJI's "Bhaktae over Rice" is a local Malaysian dish! Pork belly and radish with octagonal and cinnamon

MUJI "Bakutei over rice

MUJI's "Bhakthee over Rice" is reviewed in person. This is a retort food modeled after the Malaysian local dish "bakteh.

Bhakteh over rice

Pork belly and radish are stewed in a broth with nine spices, including octagonal horns and cinnamon, as well as ginger and garlic. The dish is modeled after the Malaysian local dish "bakteh. The retort pouch pack contains 1 serving (150g (5.29oz)) and is priced at 350 yen (tax included).

To eat, boil water in boiling water for 4 to 5 minutes or transfer the contents to a heat-resistant container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave at 500W for about 2 minutes. Pour over rice (about 150g (5.29oz)) prepared separately and it is ready to eat.

How does bhakta taste over rice?

The aroma of octagonal horns and cinnamon gives the dish a distinctly exotic feel. The sweet and spicy seasoning is relatively mild and tastes like a "not-too-dark" stew. It is just thick enough to be served with the prescribed amount of rice.

Striped with fat and lean meat, the pork belly offers two distinct textures: mellow and firm. The braising liquid soaks into the meat and it is deeply delicious. The daikon radish is stewed to a tenderness that can be crushed with the tongue.

Rather than having a local flavor, it has a refined taste that is typical of MUJI, as if it were served in an ethnic café. Even those who are not familiar with ethnic cuisine can enjoy this delicious dish without any resistance.
