Easy ♪ Mackerel Daikon with Canned Mackerel

Ingredients (easy-to-make portions)

800g (28.22oz) daikon radish
1 can (200g (7.05oz)) can simmered mackerel
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil

Method of preparation

Preparation: Wash and cut daikon radish into 2 cm round slices, then cut into quarters. Place in a heatproof container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for about 15 minutes, until the daikon becomes transparent.

Put daikon radish with water in a pan. Add sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and canned mackerel in water, and heat over medium heat.

Bring to a boil, stir briefly and cover; cook for 7-8 minutes, stir once, and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

How does it taste?

Protein-rich daikon radish with a mild texture and mackerel with firm flesh and full of umami. They are a perfect match! The richness and flavor of the sesame oil is the key to a not-too-light finish.

It is good freshly made, but it tastes even better if you let it sit for a few hours so the flavors can meld. This recipe is recommended when you want to eat plenty of daikon.
