Strawberries are useful not only as a dessert as they are, but also for baking and topping sweets with their gorgeous colors. While we would like to eat them fresh while they are still tasty, if you are worried about overpurchasing and damaging them, freezing them is an option. Here are some tips on how to freeze strawberries.

How to freeze strawberries Recipe

1.

2. Roll on kitchen paper and wipe dry. Remove any damaged

3. Place in freezer bags

4. Sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of sugar per pack

5. Shake the freezer bag gently to distribute the sugar throughout the strawberries

6. Remove air from the bag and place in the freezer. Can be stored frozen for 3-4 weeks.

Thaw in a container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Be careful to avoid moisture.

Moisture will be released when defrosting.

Sugar is sprinkled on the strawberries to prevent them from sticking to each other and to compensate for the loss of sweetness when frozen. It is possible to freeze them without sugar, but the taste will be a little lacking when they are thawed.

After thawing, the water is released and the texture changes slightly to a thicker consistency. Since they cannot be completely restored to their original state, rather than eating strawberries by themselves, it is recommended to half-thaw them and enjoy them like a sorbet, use them as a topping for yogurt or ice cream, or use them in baking. If you are careful about how you store and use them, you can enjoy them frozen just as well!
