"MEALS ARE DELIGHTFUL" is a directly managed store of "Marumitsu Poteri" that plans and designs tableware that enriches meal time. It is a white building located about 5 minutes on foot from Yoyogi Koen Station in Tokyo.
The 1st floor is the tableware shop "DISHES", the 2nd floor is the cafeteria cafe "Meals", and the 3rd floor is the "Tomigaya Meal Research Institute" for holding lectures and events. It looks like a fashionable Parisian apartment.
"Meals" is a dining room that pursues fun and deliciousness with the familiarity of home-cooked food. The white walls, the warm wooden floors and tables, and the well-arranged open kitchen create a space that feels nostalgic, even though it looks like a foreign country.
The menu is based on Japanese cuisine and has a lineup of dishes tailored to the seasons and events. Desserts and drinks are also served (cafe is available from 14:00).
I ordered "Pancake Lamb Butter" (800 yen). It takes about 30 minutes to bake, so you can talk to the people who came with you or pensive on your own. When you think about it, you may not have much "empty free time" when you don't work or do housework in your busy daily life. It's a luxurious time, 30 minutes to wait for pancakes.
The pancakes that arrived hot look delicious! Even if the vessel pops out, the appearance of the swelling is somewhat lovely.
The outside of the toasted dough is crispy and light, and the inside is moist with just the right amount of moisture. It's so fluffy that you might think you're chewing on a freshly made sponge cake, spreading the subtle sweetness and aroma of wheat. It is very delicious as it is.
Topped with the attached lamb butter on the way. The butter that melts on the hot dough soaks into the inside, and its deep richness is released in the mouth. The rum works well and the mellow scent is fluffy. I want to immerse myself in this happy lingering sound forever ...!
The "Original Blend Tea Chamomile Flower" (700 yen) ordered together has a calming and clear taste. The refreshing scent resets the buttery mouth. The cup, which looks like a petal when viewed from above, is also wonderful.
The time to wait for cooking and the vessels that color the dishes are one of the important factors for enjoying a meal. With "Meals," I realized once again how to spend a rich time, not just eating.
