A rave review from Matsuko Deluxe! Otafuku-an's "Kuromame Shio Daifuku" (black bean salted Daifuku) is priced at 230 yen per piece (tax included). The price is 230 yen per piece (tax included).

Soft Shiga Haniue rice cake is wrapped with black soybeans, and the sweet bean paste made from Hokkaido-Tokachi azuki beans is wrapped in a fluffy salted daifuku.

When you take a bite, you will be filled with the crisp salty taste of salt and the sweetness of black beans and azuki beans! The thick rice cake is soft, fluffy, and silky smooth. The bean paste inside the rice cake is filled with a sweet bean paste, and the salty taste brings out its elegant sweetness.

The black soybeans that are placed inside the rice cake also have a great presence.

Bunsendoh Honpo "Mame Daifuku

Mame Daifuku" is sold at Bunsendo Honpo. The price is 170 yen per piece (tax not included).

This slightly rare Mame Daifuku is sold only three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). Tuesdays are made with crushed bean paste, while Thursdays and Fridays are made with koshi-an (sweet red bean paste). The one I purchased was Koshi An.

Mame Daifuku" is a well-balanced combination of soft rice cake with a mallet, moderately salty peas, and sweet red bean paste. The light texture of the Koshi An (sweet bean paste) is a must-have!

Twice a year (during the foundation festival in November and around Setsubun in February), they also sell "Mame-Daifuku Tsubushi-An," which is 1.5 times larger than the regular Mame-Daifuku. It would make a great souvenir!

Tsukiji Soratsuki "Shiroichigo Daifuku

Shiroichigo Daifuku" is a limited edition product sold at Tsukiji Soratsuki, a Daifuku store located in Tsukiji Market, Tokyo. The price is 500 yen (tax included).

The mochi comes in two colors, red and white, with the pink one filled with koshi-an (sweet red bean paste) and the white one with tsubu-an (sweet white bean paste). In the center of the mochi is a white but surprisingly sweet strawberry! The combination of the fluffy and thick mochi, the rich red bean paste, and the juicy strawberries makes for a luxurious dish.

Luxurious strawberry daifuku made with Fukuoka Prefecture's "Amao," the king of strawberries. The fluffy, slightly thin rice cake is filled with a special sweet bean paste.
