I tried a seasonal sweet from Sakiyo-ken called "Yokohama Gekimochi Yaki-imo". You can enjoy the sticky and rich sweet potato bean paste and the crunchy texture of diced sweet potatoes with skin. The price is 160 yen (tax included).

It is said to be able to enjoy the dusty texture and natural gentle sweetness of baked sweet potato. The red bean paste is cooked slowly until it has less water than ordinary red bean paste, and skinned diced sweet potatoes are kneaded into the bean paste to give it a dusty texture.

Kakiyo-ken's mooncakes are small in size but heavy in weight, with a thin skin that is filled with sweet bean paste. When you insert a knife, you will see the dark gold-colored filling, just like a baked sweet potato.

One bite and you will enjoy the sweet aroma, the sticky texture, and the slightly firm texture of the sweet potato cubes. The sweet bean paste is made from green beans, which gives it a gentle texture. The cubes are soaked in honey and have a strong sweetness different from that of the sweet bean paste.

If you would like to enjoy it with something to drink, hojicha or Taiwan oolong tea is recommended. On a cool day or in an air-conditioned room, brewing the tea hot will allow you to enjoy the sweet flavor of the mooncake even more.
