Toraya has announced on its official website that it will be offering confections in honor of Wagashi Day on June 16. Four types of confections will be available: "Kasho Steamed Yokan," "Kasho Manju (3 pieces)," "Fukkobako" and "Kasho Confectionery 7 pieces.

Kasho Steamed Yokan

Kashomushi Yokan" can be ordered from June 10 to 16. The price is 2,160 yen per piece (tax included, same below).

It is a reproduction of one of the sweets that were displayed in the hall of Edo Castle during the Kasho event in the Edo period. This steamed yokan is made of Ogura, a type of sweet made with brown sugar, which is said to be effective in preventing summer heat exhaustion. It is said to have a moderately elastic texture, azuki graininess, and the rich taste of brown sugar. Some stores do not carry this product.

Kasho Manju (3 pieces) will also be available from June 10 to 16. The price is 1,512 yen per box.

This is an assortment of three different flavors: yellow "Tororo Manju", red "Shin Manju", and brown "Rikyu Manju". Each is branded with the design of the Kadajo Tsuho, a mallet-shaped branding iron, and the "Zenkoku Wagashi Kyokai" mark. It is considered a confectionery of good fortune with a wish for good luck. Some stores do not carry them.

Fukkobako

Fukkobako" will also be on sale from June 10 to 16. The price is 2,430 yen per box.

It is said to be an assortment of good luck sweets, containing three kinds of sweets: "Naruhisago" made by Domyoji, "Hane Tai (red and white)" made by Nerikiri, and "Steamed sweets" made by adding red bean grains to the Soboro red bean paste to make it look like sekihan (red rice). The "Kasho-gashi 7-piece set" will be available for reservation from June 1 to 12, and will be delivered from June 14 to 16. Orders must be placed 5 days prior to the delivery date. Orders must be placed 5 days prior to the delivery date. The selling price is 3,564 yen.

The seven types of confections served in earthenware containers are based on items delivered to the Imperial Court at the end of the Edo period. The sales outlets can be found on Toraya's official website.
