Freshness Burger "Tong Po Lo Burger

I tried the "Tong Po Lo Burger" being sold at the Freshness Burger Taiwan Fair. The plump, jelly-like pork with skin goes well with the soft bun with pumpkin kneaded into it.

The burger is priced at 480 yen (tax included, same as below). This time, I ordered a set (860 yen) with "Tapioca Jasmine Green Tea Milk Tea," which is also available at the Taiwan Fair.


The Tong Po Lo Burger is a pork belly dish called "Tong Po Lo," served with green onions and green curls on a bun with Hokkaido pumpkin kneaded into the bun. The burger is accented with Japanese mustard.


The patty-like Tong Po Lo is similar in appearance to Japanese "pork cubes," but it is characterized by its plump skin. It is soft and melts in your mouth as soon as you bite into it. It is seasoned with a mildly sweet sauce, but the crunchy white onions and a generous amount of Japanese mustard give it an overall spicy flavor. If you eat it too vigorously, the spiciness may make you gag a little.


The pumpkin bun is also slightly sweet and fluffy, blending well with the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the tong pao lo. The volume is just right for a light lunch.

Tapioca Jasmine Green Tea Milk Tea

Next, we tried the "Tapioca Jasmine Green Tea Milk Tea," which we also ordered. It is made with Shizuoka green tea with a hint of jasmine. The tea has a floral aroma that lingers in the nose, but the sweetness is not so strong.



Even without adding any syrup at all, the jasmine flavor alone is enough to make it an enjoyable dessert drink. Also, the large chewy black pearl tapioca grains at the bottom of the cup fill about one-fifth of the cup, and sucking them through a straw is a very satisfying experience.
