Cambodia pumpkin pudding
Cambodia pumpkin pudding "Rapau Sonkucha"

Autumn taste pumpkin. According to one theory, the etymology is the Southeast Asian country "Cambodia". Actually, I heard that there is a shop where you can eat pumpkin sweets unique to Cambodia. It's "BAYON" in Kagurazaka, Tokyo.

Bayon, a Cambodian dish

Pumpkin is native to South America, but today it has spread all over the world, and of course it is also used as a dish and sweet in Cambodia. Bayon is a restaurant where you can enjoy such gourmet food unique to Cambodia.

Close to Iidabashi Subway Station or Ushigome Kagurazaka Station. On the way up Kagurazaka, you will enter "Kenban Yokocho", and you will find a golden statue on the way to the residential area.

A calm atmosphere when you enter. I'd like to order pumpkin sweets right away, but I'm just hungry so I'll order lunch first.

It is a combination of the minced eggplant stir-fried set meal "Char Trop" (880 yen, tax included, same below) and the pumpkin pudding "Rapau Sonkucha" (650 yen).

Char Trop

Toro Toro's eggplant is delicious!

Bayon's "Char Trop"
"Char Trop" set meal is 880 yen (tax included)

Char Trop is a dish of minced pork and eggplant.

I would like to call it a Cambodian-style marbonus, but there are some differences. The seasoning is slightly smoky, rather like Japanese "Yakiniku". It's not spicy at all.

Bayon's "Char Trop"
Eggplant is very soft

As a big feature, the eggplant is soft so that it melts on the tongue. All the purple skin on the outside has been peeled off. This seems to be Cambodian style. The colors are covered with bright red shredded paprika.

The red one is paprika. Not Spicy

Enjoy this little by little with white rice served in a nice round shape. In addition, if you carry chopsticks in order, you will not get tired of eating the small bowls that came with the set.

Salad is also a dish

Bayon's salad
Contains shrimp and steamed chicken

The salad that comes with the set has a Southeast Asian-style sweet and slightly spicy dressing. It looks like cabbage and other vegetables, but it actually contains boiled eggs, steamed chicken, and shrimp, making it a solid dish. I want alcohol.

"Naru" is brightly colored

Bayon's "Naru"
"Naru". Beautiful cut

The set comes with "Naru" in addition to the salad. Carrots, cucumbers and radishes are cut into flower-like shapes and are vivid to the eyes. Although it is crispy, it does not feel firm and is easy to eat. It has a mild sweetness and sourness, but it is refreshing and feels like pickles.

Soup with a slight vegetable sweetness

Bayon's soup
Suimono-style relaxing taste

The soup in the set is a soup-style soup made with seaweed. Even though it is an ethnic dish, it is easy to drink and has a relaxing taste reminiscent of Japanese food.

However, if you taste it well, you can feel a slight spiciness and a certain sweetness. In addition to adding a small amount of sugar, it seems to have added the sweetness of vegetables.

Pumpkin tapioca dessert

Set dessert. It's a pumpkin!

There is also a mini dessert in the set. Tapioca coconut milk with pumpkin added. The soft shade of yellow and white is gentle.

Pumpkin tapioca dessert
Very soft

The scent of pumpkin, the scent of coconut, and the thick, sweet milk match the crushing feeling of tapioca. It seems that tapioca is not only spherical but also strip-shaped. The pumpkin cut into squares stands out, but when you bite into it, you'll be amazed at how soft it is. Moreover, it is sweet. I wonder if there is such a sweet pumpkin.
