Butter chicken and jasmine rice
Unbranded "jasmine rice". I'm aiming for curry lovers

When you don't want to cook rice at home, it's easy to get a retort curry from MUJI near the station and go home. Delicious in both summer and winter. If you have a lot of trouble, the pack rice you eat together should be suitable for curry. Let's try the recently introduced "Jasmine Rice".

Asian elongated rice

Elongated rice goes well with curry

When you order rice at an Indian curry or Thai curry shop, you may come across a kind of rice that has a slightly different aroma and texture from ordinary rice.

At home, we usually eat short-grained, round Japanese rice "short-grained", but ethnic restaurants sometimes offer long-grained, slender "long-grained" rice. That's right.

The long grain rice is crisp and easy to separate from each other, and goes well with curry and soup. Recently, I see that they are also sold in packs. This time, I chose MUJI's "Warm and Eat Packed Rice Jasmine Rice" (290 yen, tax included, same below). The same series is 100 yen more expensive than the short grain ones. If you like curry, buy it while thinking that it is a little bullish price.

With butter chicken

To try matching the classic butter chicken

Since it's Thai rice, I was wondering if I should match it with Thai curry, but when it comes to MUJI, I think "butter chicken" (350 yen) is good, so I buy it together.

Put the curry in a bowl and heat the packed rice in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. Yes, what I was looking for was this speed and ease.

Jasmine rice has a unique scent that tickles your nose as soon as you remove the lid. If you ask me if it looks like a jasmine flower, I think so, but it makes me feel like I'm in an ethnic restaurant.

If you look closely again, the rice is still elongated. At first glance, the rice seems to stick to each other, but when you take one and put it in your mouth, the texture is crunchy and less sticky, and it has a chewy texture.

The crunchy texture matches the curry

The texture is perfect! Butter chicken is superior to jasmine rice in fragrance

Sprinkle butter chicken and eat it. The heavy aroma and richness of the curry with spices and cashew nuts, the soft sweetness, and the modest spiciness completely occupy the sense of taste and smell, and make you feel at ease.

The texture of jasmine rice, which is crispy on the texture of the thick curry, is a wonderful accent, and it is fun to scoop with a spoon.

However, the overwhelming flavor of butter chicken is completely defeated by the aroma of jasmine rice. If you bring only rice close to your nose, you can certainly smell exotic, but if you bring it to your mouth with curry, it won't be a match. I once again feel that butter chicken is a sinful curry. However, as mentioned above, you can fully enjoy the texture and texture of the long grain rice.

Both curry and rice have a capacity of 180g (6.35oz). Even if you are hungry, if you flatten everything, you will be full. If you want to have a midnight snack, you may share it with someone in a small bowl.
