Dorayaki and curry collaborate! We found an interesting product "Tokyo Curry Dorayaki" at the Akihabara branch of Chikyuan Okano in Akihabara. The price is 200 yen (tax not included).

Tokyo Curry Dorayaki

Tokyo Curry Dorayaki is a dorayaki filled with curry bean paste. It was developed based on the fact that there are many curry shops in Akihabara.


On the package is a maid, the symbol (?) of Akiba. The package features a maid, the symbol (?) of Akiba. The ingredients list includes curry roux, chicken bouillon, onion, carrot, beef, radish, eggplant, and lotus root, all ingredients that one would not expect to find in dorayaki.


When you open the bag, you can smell the curry. It looks like dorayaki but smells like curry, which is a little confusing...


Fearfully, I took a bite. Wow, it's more solid and clear curry than I expected! It is as if you are biting into a roux with a little water in it. The curry is a high level of reproducibility, with occasional hints of fukujinzuke (pickles) and beef (soft texture, I suppose).


The sweeter-than-usual dorayaki crust, which is made to go well with the curry, blends in nicely with the red bean paste. Once you get used to it, you will feel as if you are eating "moist, slightly sweet curry buns.


I found it to be "surprisingly good! However, some people may be bothered by the sweetness of the crust, which gives the bread a slightly sweet taste.


Takeryuan Okano's "Tokyo Curry Dorayaki" is an unexpected collaboration. In addition to the Akihabara store, it is sold at the Nippori, Shin-Okachimachi, and Kanda stores. Curry lovers, check it out!
