Saga Nishiki" at Muraokaya Confectionery

Saga Nishiki" by Muraokaya, one of Saga's famous confections

Saga Nishiki" by Muraokaya is one of Saga Prefecture's famous confections. This confectionary is inspired by the glamour and texture of the traditional textile "Saga Nishiki".

The "Ukishima" dough, which contains azuki beans and chestnuts, is baked with yams kneaded into it and sandwiched between baumkuchen. In addition to "Saga Nishiki," "Matcha Saga Nishiki" is also available.

SAGA-NISHIKI

Saganishiki" is a beautiful product with stripes of light red bean-colored dough and baumkuchen. You can see beans and chestnuts are roughed in.

The specially baked baumkuchen is carefully layered one layer at a time in a unique way. The baumkuchen is rich in flavor and moist without any dryness. The chocolate between the baumkuchen and the floating island adds a crunchy accent.

This baumkuchen alone is quite delicious!

The floating island is soft and fluffy. The kneading of yams into the baumkuchen gives it a unique, chunky texture that is different from sponge cake or cake sponge cake. It is also important to note that the texture of the beans and chestnuts is still there. The "crunchy and chewy" texture goes well with the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the dough.

Various textures are enjoyable

The "Western" taste of baumkuchen and chocolate is perfectly matched with the "Japanese" taste of Ukishima and chestnuts. The fragrance of wheat, the richness of butter, and the sweetness of chestnuts overlap like a fabric. A delicious blend of Japanese and Western flavors that would go well with both Japanese tea and black tea!

Matcha Saganishiki

Matcha Saganishiki" has a dough mixed with matcha green tea made from Yame tea produced in Kyushu. Azuki beans are kneaded into the dough.

It is said to be inspired by the young leaves of spring.

The moment you put it in your mouth, the matcha green tea spreads softly. The richness of the chocolate envelopes the dark flavor and subtle bitterness. The combination of sweet azuki beans and matcha goes without saying. You can enjoy a more Japanese taste than plain Saganishiki.
