In this series of articles introducing "secret masterpieces," the 60th item is Royal Host's "Cosmo Doria.

Royal Host is a family restaurant. Royal Host is a family restaurant that offers a special menu at a slightly higher price than other family restaurants, and the interior of the restaurant gives the impression of being quiet and calm. Some people sometimes feel the urge to go there and have a "Roy-Ho craving" that cannot be satisfied anywhere else.


The grand menu features Western-style dishes such as hamburgers, steaks, and omelettes, as well as Japanese dishes and a variety of sweets. Limited-time-only menus incorporating seasonal ingredients are also available from time to time.

The Cosmo Doria introduced here is a standard menu item that Royal Host claims to be a "traditional taste. It is made with two types of sauce: white sauce and cheese-scented béchamel sauce. The price is 880 yen (excluding tax; 950 yen at some stores).


The ingredients are an unusual combination of chicken, shrimp, and marron. The sweetness of the chestnuts blends with the mild white sauce and béchamel sauce to create a soft, sweet, creamy flavor. It is rich and elegant without being too heavy. The melt-in-your-mouth sauce is well balanced with the moderately firm rice.





It is also characterized by the garnish of lemon slices. Squeezing it adds a fresh and refreshing acidity that enhances the flavor of the cheese and the richness of the milk. It is recommended to add it to the second half of the dish to change the flavor.


Royal Host is also offering a "Weekday Special Dinner Set" on weekdays only and only from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This is an evening set menu that allows you to choose a main dish from five popular menu items including Cosmo Doria. It includes a marinated mushroom salad, Royal's onion gratin soup or corn potage, baguette or rice, and a drink bar, priced from 1,780 yen to 2,480 yen (excluding tax), depending on the main course.


The onion gratin soup that comes with this dish is as good as the cosmo doria. The combination of slowly sauteed onions and rich consommé soup has a deep, yet clear flavor. The texture of the bread soaked in the soup is also irresistible.


I think it is a great value for a small Western dinner course at such a reasonable price. In some restaurants, you have to order for more than two people. If you are looking for a quiet, luxurious evening alone without worrying about your surroundings, try Royal Host.
