Daily Lunch" at Cocos

This is a series of articles on eating the "daily lunch" at family restaurants in search of a high quality lunch. Following the daily lunches at Jonathan, Royal Host, Gusto, and Denny's, this time I went to Cocos!

To be honest, it was the most satisfying experience so far.

Cocos "Daily Lunch

There are three types of "Daily Lunch" at Cocos, priced at 690 yen each (tax not included). On Mondays and Thursdays, the menu is "Japonegi hamburger steak and fried chicken"; on Tuesdays and Fridays, "Fried chicken with oroshi ponzu and broccoli and bacon in tomato sauce"; and on Wednesdays, "Demi-glace cheese hamburger steak and croquette.

Deep Fried Chicken with Oni Oroshi Ponzu & Broccoli and Bacon in Tomato Sauce

It was a Tuesday, so I got the "Deep Fried Chicken with Oni Oroshi Ponzu & Broccoli and Bacon in Tomato Sauce". It comes with rice and a soup bar.

There were two kinds of soup on the soup bar. They were Chicken Consommé (Bacon & Onion) and Chicken Consommé (Egg & Onion).

This is Egg & Onion. Lots of soft eggs and sweet onions.

First of all, the side dishes were good. It's nice to have a hearty raw vegetable salad on the side! The broccoli and bacon in tomato sauce is so good that it could be an appetizer all by itself. The thick, sweet and sour tomato sauce enhances the flavor of the bacon and the crunchy broccoli.

And the main dish, fried chicken, was delicious! The batter is crispy and crunchy, and the thigh meat inside is juicy and plump. The batter is crispy and crunchy, and the meat inside is juicy and plump. The acidity of the ponzu sauce makes it refreshing. The generous amount of oroshi (grated radish) on the plate is coarsely shaved to give it a crispy texture that is refreshing.

It was a very satisfying lunch set, full of volume and tasty without any complaints. All of the side dishes were delicious and could have been served as a whole meal on their own, without that "well, it's cheap, so what..." feeling. It was also nice to have two kinds of soup!

For an additional 190 yen (tax not included), you can add a lunch drink bar, but even without it, the Cocos "Daily Lunch" was enough to fill your stomach and your heart.
