One of them is "Greek yogurt", which has been a hot topic in recent years. It is a yogurt that can be drained to reduce water content and enjoy a creamy texture and rich taste. It has been popular in Greece and other Eastern European areas for centuries.
Two kinds of desserts using this "Greek yogurt" are on sale from Tully's today. One is "Ice Rush Greek Style Yogurt Belize" with shaved ice, and the other is "Greek Style Yogurt with Mango Banana" with granola.
Eating something that originated in Greece may be the first step to getting closer. With that in mind, I headed to Tully's.
■ I tried Greek style yogurt with mango banana
I ordered only Greek style yogurt with mango banana because I didn't sell ice slush at my neighborhood Tully's. The price was 450 yen (tax included).
Served in a short, transparent cup, you can see layers of granola, mango sauce, Greek-style yogurt, and banana sauce from the top.
Granola is large and contains raisins.
The first thing you feel when you eat it is the crunchy texture of large granola. Next, you can feel the refreshing sweetness of mango sauce along with the rich and rich texture of Greek-style yogurt. It seems that the Greek yogurt itself is not sweetened, but as you chew it, the raisins start to taste and you can enjoy the sweetness as a whole.
The banana sauce in the bottom layer is rich with plenty of flesh and strong sweetness. It is thicker than mango sauce and has a voluminous feel that is comparable to Greek-style yogurt. The flesh is large, and in addition to the chewy texture, you can also feel the slightly rough texture of the banana flesh surface.
It's a rich, sweet banana sauce that you wouldn't be able to handle with ordinary yogurt, but the creamy Greek-style yogurt holds it tightly and is well-balanced. Also, although the amount is not so large, it is rich and satisfying, and it seems to be a snack for breakfast.
Even in distant Greece, there are people who eat the same fluffy yogurt. Just thinking that way, it's a wonder that Greece suddenly feels close to us. By increasing the number of menus and products that use "Greek yogurt", interest in Greece in Japan may deepen.
