Chocolate is something we eat everyday without thinking about it. In Cote d'Ivoire, the world's largest producer of cacao beans (source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs), there were people who had never tasted chocolate before, even though they worked on cacao farms.

Metropolisweb.tv, an international media outlet, published a video of these local people tasting chocolate for the first time in their lives. Here is the video.

The media correspondent Selay Marius Kouassi visits a cacao farm in the Ivory Coast. All the workers there have never eaten chocolate before. Some of them did not even know what the cacao beans they had worked so hard to harvest were used for.

I've heard about it, but I've never actually seen it."

The salary they earn from working on the cacao plantation is 7 euros a day (about 960 yen). On the other hand, the money needed to buy one chocolate bar in Cote d'Ivoire is 2 euros (about 270 yen). Such a luxury item cannot be bought so easily.

When correspondent Mr. Kouassi presented the chocolate bars to the farmers, saying, "This is the chocolate made from cacao," they were all curious to see chocolate for the first time. One of the men asked, "Is this really cacao, or are you sure it is 100% cacao? Some of the men were skeptical, but they were all very interested in the chocolate they were seeing for the first time.

They were skeptical, but when they took a bite, they said, "It's so sweet! I didn't know cacao could taste this good! I didn't know cacao could taste so good! The expressions of surprise and joy on the farmers' faces were impressive.

Wow, it's delicious!"

In the latter half of the video, the farmer, clutching the chocolate wrapper with great care, says, "I'll keep this wrapper and show it to my children," to which the correspondent says, "Don't worry, I have another one.

I said to myself, "Yes! I can feed the kids!"

Not only cacao, but we can only eat delicious food when there are farmers who work hard to grow and harvest it. We should always remember to be grateful for this.
