Menya Musashi's "whale ramen", sashimi is too horsey to forget the existence of noodles--Kanano Musashi 5th

In addition, I met a dangerous cup

"Kinno Musashi" is a 20th anniversary project of the popular ramen shop, Menya Musashi. A special menu will be offered at each store over a year, and the fifth "Whale Ramen" will be available at Menya Musashi Musashi Gaiden (Shibuya, Tokyo) from May 26th. Will be sold.

I think that the number of people who get excited when they see this and say, "I did it as a whale!" Is relatively small. Rather, there are many people who smell it or have never eaten it in the first place.

Actually, the author (young lady) is not very good at it (although I kept it secret at the time of the interview ...). I'm not good at that unique iron-like smell.

However, the one that impressed me the most after tasting was "sashimi". It's so delicious that I forget about the noodles.

The best “whale sashimi” ever

Sashimi that sticks out of the noodles and sits in a bowl. It is called "tail body" and is a rare and expensive marbling part. It is said that tuna is a big toro, and it is often served as sashimi, which is a dish that makes food lovers wonder.

Even so, you will rarely see it in this flat state. This piece weighs about 80g (2.82oz). What a luxury!

Big. long. It seems that they are specially cut into this shape.

As soon as I put it in my mouth, the moving storm doesn't stop. Abra melts and spreads in your mouth. I didn't mind the smell at all, and I was surprised that the whale was so delicious !?

In fact, it seems that it takes a lot of time to soak only one side in garlic soy sauce for about 20 seconds, wipe it off, and then put it on a bowl. The scent of this garlic goes well with the sweetness of the thick abra.

Another point is the change in texture. The surface in contact with the soup is slightly cooked and has a slightly different texture than the surface. But the softness is the same as the raw surface. Strange.

The heat of the soup will change the texture steadily

Well, there is a reason for this flat shape. Garnished vegetables (brassica rapa, white onion with sesame oil, new ginger in season now) can be wrapped and eaten. I see, so are all the vegetables cut to the same length?

Put your favorite condiments

Roll it up and roll it up. No, it's too tasty and I'm going to tear. I want to drink Japanese sake. No way, the day will come when you will find whales so delicious!

All vegetables go perfectly with sashimi. Among them, Mizuna is the strongest combination that is familiar even in "Harihari-nabe". This time, the core is raw so that you can enjoy the texture, and the leaves are left in the water. It's too detailed, store manager.

I enjoyed it so slowly that I seriously forgot about the existence of noodles. Oh, by the way, this was ramen ...
page Impressed with the soup!

A soup that isn't whale-like?

That's why I also have noodles and soup.

Of course the soup is a whale. It is based on homemade whale bacon and soup made from raw ridges (the raw state of the ridges and bacon parts).

The scent is slightly "whale flavor". But the taste is full of umami that you will experience for the first time. Maybe this is the "original taste of whales". Smoked fragrance is added here, creating a complex depth.

I had an image of "soup = a condensed form of taste", so I was prepared for a certain amount of odor, but this is okay. And because of this soup, the sashimi would be more delicious. surely.

The noodles are straight thin noodles. It is said that whole grains are mixed to make it crispy and give it a scent that is comparable to soup.

I think I had smoked a lot of soup probably because I was so absorbed in sashimi. However, personally, this was rather delicious, so the result is okay.

Do you know the whole grain whelk?

While saying something, I finished eating in no time. The history of whales in me has been rewritten. Thank you, Menya Musashi!

"Whale" and "Musashi"

In the first place, there has been a culture of eating whales in Japan for a long time. Immediately after the end of the war, it was useful as a valuable protein source, so I think some people remember eating Tatsuta fried food for lunch. However, there are movements to limit whaling, and now there are fewer opportunities to eat.

The manager of the Shibuya store (from Hokkaido), who developed the whale noodles this time, seems to have eaten whales at home from an early age. From that experience, he said that he worked hard to develop "whale ramen that can be eaten even if he hates whales" so that he could experience the "culture of eating whales".

The hardest part was the soup. Most of the body is a whale called blood, and if you use lean meat, it will smell too much, and if you use only whale bacon, the taste unique to whales is thin. So, he found the conclusion that bacon and beard soup should be combined one-to-one.

Another one with "cultural" connection. There is a work called "Miyamoto Musashi's Whale Extermination" in Utagawa Kuniyoshi's Ukiyo-e. A powerful whale drawn on the entire screen in the raging sea. On his back, Musashi Miyamoto, the swordsman who gave the name of Menya Musashi, is about to get rid of whales.

Strangely, an exhibition of Kuniyoshi's works is being held in Shibuya. It can be said that "whale" and "Musashi" were connected at the perfect timing.

So, Kuniyoshi on paper By the way, it seems that this work does not appear in the exhibition

Whales and noodles are only available for 10 meals a day from May 26th to May 29th. The price is 2,000 yen per cup (excluding tax). I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who loves whales. It is a cup that I want people who are not good at eating.
