Seijo Ishii has announced the launch of "Yamada-style Locavore Bento" on its official website. The bento is supervised by Dr. Satoru Yamada, president of the Shoku-Raku-Health Association and director of the Kitasato Institute Hospital Diabetes Center. Multiple varieties arrive via frozen delivery from the official online store and are priced at 7,980 yen for a 10-serving set (tax included, same below) and 4,980 yen for a 5-serving set.

Yamada-style Locavore Bento


It is set out to meet the requirements for a sustainable lifestyle that limits sugar intake to 20g (0.71oz)-40g (1.41oz) per meal and 70-130g (4.59oz) per day, as well as one or more of the following: ample protein, dietary fiber, low salt, good fats and oils, and good sugar content.

The menu is also supervised by the Seijo Ishii Central Kitchen Chef. The main dish, main meal, and two side dishes are prepared on a single plate, offering a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, all of which can be easily prepared in a microwave oven. The menu items include: "Japanese-style bento with braised red fish and steamed chicken," "Japanese-style bento with ginger-grilled pork and fried egg with edamame," "Western-style bento with sautéed chicken and penne genovese," "Chinese-style bento with meatballs in black vinegar sauce and mapo tofu," and "Chinese-style bento with fried chicken, shrimp and egg chili sauce.

Japanese-style bento with simmered red fish and steamed chicken


The "Japanese Style Lunch Box with Simmered Red Fish and Steamed Chicken" consists of simmered red fish, Japanese mixed rice with dried tofu, hijiki and soybeans, steamed chicken with onion sauce, and kiriboshi-daikon with minced chicken.

The simmered fish is thick and moist. The elegant aroma and gentle taste of kombu dashi soup stock are said to be appetizing. The Japanese-style mixed rice with dried tofu and hijiki is described as a satisfying dish with a strong sense of soup stock.

Japanese-style bento with ginger-grilled pork and omelet with edamame


The "Japanese-style bento with ginger yaki pork and egg yaki with edamame" includes ginger yaki pork and onion, Japanese-style mixed rice with dried tofu, hijiki and soybeans, egg yaki with edamame, and fried tofu and hijiki salad.

The ginger-roasted pork loin is highlighted by the aroma of sesame oil and is presented as well-seasoned and satisfying. The soybeans mixed into the rice are said to soak up the broth to the inside, making the rice fluffy.
