"Suica no Penguin: Spring Colorful Chirashi" will appear at ekiben-ya in some JR East stations. A total of six ekiben stores in Tokyo Station, Ueno Station, etc. will start selling the product on March 16, 2023. Reservations can be made by 3:00 p.m. three days prior to the date of use at "Net de Ekineka. The price is 2,800 yen (tax included).

Vivid chirashi sushi in a reusable bento box

This is the second ekiben produced by Orange Page, following the Suica penguin ekiben "Otona no Kodomo-sama Lunch" launched in October 2022. This seasonal ekiben features a bright chirashi-zushi dish that reminds us of spring. The menu includes broiled eel, grilled scallop, shrimp, bamboo shoots, butterbur, kogomi (Japanese horsetail), cherry blossom shavings, shiitake mushroom, lotus root, butterfly carrot, pickled ginger, boiled hijiki (green peas), and sakura mochi (cherry blossom rice cake). It is guided that you will surely enjoy the hanami mood not only while admiring the flowers under the cherry blossoms, but also in your own home.


The food is packaged in a container with a design of Suica penguins enjoying hanami. It is reusable and can be used as a bento box even after eating chirashizushi. The lacquerware-like design is made using the traditional Yamanaka-nuri lacquerware technique of Ishikawa Prefecture. If the inner lid is removed, it can be used in microwave ovens and dishwashers. Size is approx. 17.6 cm (W) x 9 cm (D) x 6.1 cm (H). 600 ml capacity.
