Sotteoksotteok" is a familiar dish at Korean food stalls and service areas. It is a one-hand dish of sausage and sticky rice cake on a skewer. Here is a recipe that can be easily made at home.
Sotteok Sotteok
Ingredients (for 5 skewers)
10 small sausages
15 tteokbokki
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 teaspoons gochujang (red pepper paste)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cm garlic tube
white sesame seeds, to taste
A dash of sesame oil
5 bamboo skewers
Directions
1. mix soy sauce, ketchup, gochujang, sugar and garlic to make sauce.
Boil tteokbokki in boiling water for 3 minutes, drain in a colander. Adjust the boiling time according to the label on the tteokbokki you purchased.
Fry the sausage in a frying pan with sesame oil until browned.
4) Thread the bamboo skewers alternately with tteokbokki and sausage. The order and number of skewers is up to you, but this time I made one skewer with tteokbokki, sausage, tteokbokki, sausage, and tteokbokki.
Pour the sauce over the skewers and sprinkle with white sesame seeds to finish.
How does sotteoksotteok taste?
A perfect combination of fried, crispy, juicy sausage and soft, chunky tteokbokki. The rich sauce with gochujang (red pepper paste) is delicious! The fragrant white sesame seeds also add a nice accent. The sweet and spicy taste is addictive.
It can be eaten in one hand with a crunch, and thanks to the tteokbokki, the volume is satisfying. It is a perfect snack or nibble when you are hungry.
