Gyomu Super "cheese hotchpotch

Review of a frozen "cheese hotchpotch" purchased at a Gyomu Super.

Gyomu Super Cheese Hotk

This is a cheese flavored frozen version of hotchpotch, a traditional snack popular at Korean food stalls. Chewy dough made of fermented wheat flour and tapioca starch is sandwiched between cheddar cheese sauce and baked flat. This product is imported directly from Korea.

A pack of four (320g (11.29oz)) is priced at 298 yen (excluding tax), and each piece has 225kcal of energy.

The product can be heated in a toaster oven or frying pan. In the case of toaster ovens, heat for 5 minutes after defrosting. If using a frying pan, cook frozen for 7 minutes over low to medium heat, flipping once. In this case, I used a frying pan and cooked two pieces at a time.

How does the Cheese Hotchpotch taste?

Crispy on the surface and soft and chewy on the inside! The slightly sweet dough is matched with the richness and saltiness of the cheese, giving it an addictive taste. Although it is flat, the dough is very satisfying and will fill you up.

The cheese is thick in the mouth, but does not spill out from the cross section. You can eat it with one hand while you are working, or you can add ketchup or honey to it. There is also a brown sugar and peanut hotchpotch in the series, so if you have a sweet tooth, check this out as well.
