Topvalu "Delicious on Rice - Octopus Wasabi Mekabu, Baby Mekabu and Okura Mekabu" Tasting Review! Great as a snack!

Aeon Topvalu "Delicious Mekabu on Rice" Series

Perfect as an accompaniment to rice or as a snack! Introducing the "Delicious Mekabu on Rice" series from Aeon's Topvalu brand, priced at 198 yen each (tax not included) for a 3-pack.

Delicious with Rice - Mekabu with Baby Mekabu

This dish is a combination of Mekabu turnip, capelin roe, burdock root, and carrot. The turnip covered with tiny pieces of roe slides down your throat, leaving the delicious flavor of bonito broth in your mouth. The burdock root and carrot are soft to the touch and do not interfere with the smooth texture. The overall flavor is sweet and not too salty, making it a perfect accompaniment to rice.

Delicious on rice: Octopus and Wasabi Mekabu

A colorful combination of turnip, good octopus, carrots, wasabi stems, sesame seeds, and chili peppers. The spicy, savory, and moderately salty flavors combine to create an addictive taste. Setouchi lemon juice is used to give the dish a refreshing aftertaste. Although the individual octopuses are not very large, their plump and resilient texture is a perfect accent.

Delicious Ookura-mekabu on rice

Okura-mekabu is a slightly sweetened dish made by adding okura (okra) to mekabu (turnip). The combination with natto (fermented soybeans) gives the dish a sticky taste. Sprinkle some mustard or shichimi (seven spice) to taste for a tangy taste.

Although we were not able to buy it this time, there is also "Ika Mentaimekabu" (squid squid with a red cod roe), which is delicious on top of rice. All of them go well with rice as well as sake, so why not add them to your table when you need one more side dish or snack?
