Have you heard of "Salmon Chazuke" sold by Niigata Kashimaya? This is Kashimaya's signature product that has been loved for many years. I actually bought and tried it.

Kashimaya "Sake Chazuke" has a moist, delicious, and mild flavor that can only be created by fatty king salmon. The salmon's delicious flavor and moderate saltiness make it the perfect accompaniment to hot rice or onigiri (rice ball). Starting October 1, 2022, it will be priced at 1,458 yen for a bag (contents 100g (3.53oz)), 1,620 yen for a small bottle (contents 100g (3.53oz)), 2,160 yen for a medium bottle (contents 140g (4.94oz)), and 3,024 yen for a large bottle (contents 200g (7.05oz)) (all tax included).


The ingredients are simple: king salmon, shochu, salt, kelp, dried bonito extract powder, and soy sauce. When the lid is opened, the inside is stuffed with tightly packed unraveled salmon.


It is slightly salty, and the richness and flavor of the salmon can be enjoyed. Although it is called "chazuke," it tastes great just mixed in with white rice! In addition to rice, we also recommend adding it to pasta or salad. Of course, you can also add a little to ochazuke! It also goes well with white sesame seeds, nori (seaweed), and green onions.



Because of the strong flavor of salmon, adding just a small amount is a good idea. It is a favorite of my family and we often buy it, and it can be used in a variety of dishes. However, the best way to eat it is simply with white rice! It is a delicious dish that you should definitely try.
