Hongo 3-chome, Tsuboya Sohonten "Tsubo-Monaka", a specialty confection loved by Katsumi Kaishu! Rich red bean paste and fragrant skin that shines brightly

Tsuboya Sohonten

I purchased a "tsubo monaka" at Tsuboya Sohonten, a five- or six-minute walk from Hongo Sanchome Station. The price is 190 yen (including tax, same below) for the koshian and 200 yen for the tsubo-an.

Tsuboza-zaka

Tsuboza monaka" is a type of monaka shaped like a jar. It is made entirely by hand using carefully selected ingredients.

Looks so cute!

Let's start with the grains of bean jam. When you break it open, you will find it is filled with shiny and glossy bean paste! It is viscous, rich, and sweet, and the texture of the beans can be enjoyed.

Behold the brilliance of this bean paste.

The crunchy and savory thin tea skin goes well with it, making it very satisfying.

Koshi-an is also filled to the brim with red bean paste. The taste is mild and moist, with a smooth texture. It is a taste you will want to enjoy with a cup of warm green tea.

This is Koshi-an

Tsuboya Sohonten's "Tsuboza-ichu" has been loved for more than 300 years since its establishment. Why not try the taste, which is said to have been loved by Kaishu Katsu?
