I tried Lawson's Japanese sweets "Thick Warabimochi Fluffy Matcha". It is a gem that combines the Japanese sweetness of black beans, matcha agar, and warabi mochi with the sweetness of whipped cream, syrup-pickled mikan, matcha mousse, jelly, and western sweets.
The price is 295 yen (tax included). Warabi mochi and matcha agar are layered on a generous amount of black honey sauce, wrapped in transparent jelly, and topped with meringue-style matcha mousse, whipped cream, oranges, and black beans.
The black beans that catch the eye in the toppings have a plump texture. When crushed with teeth, the flavor of beans becomes stronger and reminds me of New Year dishes. However, unlike New Year dishes, it is not so sweet, and it is just the right amount for the various sweets.
Matcha mousse has a fluffy texture and is much softer than whipped cream, but it has a very bitter and deep scent. It seems better to taste it with the jelly below than to eat it with mousse alone.
The warabi mochi buried under the toppings is made slightly soft. You can enjoy a slightly different smoothness from the jelly that covers the surroundings. Matcha agar is made hard. It's not as good as matcha mousse, but it's still a bitter and fragrant flavor.
The black honey on the bottom of the bowl spreads the smell of wild brown sugar in your mouth. Matcha agar and matcha mousse have such a strong personality that when the spoon reaches the bottom, the whole candy changes completely.
It was a complex and delicate Japanese dessert with different characteristics for each scoop, no matter where you eat it.
