Katsu Sandwich at "Meat Specialty Hafu" in Kyoto

In the Kanto region, the most common type of "cutlet sandwich" is a pork cutlet sandwiched between two pieces of bread, but in the Kansai region, beef cutlet sandwiches are more popular. The cutlet sandwich at "Niku Senka Hafu," a famous restaurant in Kyoto that is constantly receiving reservations, is one of the most popular beef cutlet sandwiches.

There are two types: the "Katsu Sandwich" (1,900 yen including tax) made with fillet of beef from Australia and the "Gokujo Katsu Sandwich" (5,000 yen including tax) made with fillet of Wagyu beef. To go is also available. The sandwiches are wrapped as early as 10 minutes, but it may take longer during busy times or when there are many orders, so it is a good idea to call ahead and make a reservation.

When you To go, the box is still warm right after you receive it... makes you happy!

Excuse me from the bullet train.

The one I got this time was the 1,900 yen cutlet sandwich. A thick beef cutlet is sandwiched between two pieces of soft, crisply toasted bread. On one side is a coleslaw-style salad of lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.

Three cutlet sandwiches with thick meat between them.

One bite and you will be amazed...Why does this taste so good?

The meat wrapped in a crispy batter is savory, moist and tender! The meat is not stringy and can be easily chewed. The inside is still rare and melts on the tongue. The more you chew the meat, the more the lean meat flavor seeps out. The pepper sprinkled on the meat is also very tangy and good!

A juicy cutlet sandwich from start to finish.

The creamy, sweet and sour taste of the coleslaw-like salad is a nice accent to the light and refreshing cutlet. The food just keeps getting better and better! I finished three slices in no time.

I was impressed by the meat. If a pork cutlet sandwich is this good, I wonder how good a 5,000 yen pork cutlet sandwich would be... I'll have to try it next time!
