One of them, "Setouchi Hiroshima Spring Oyster Festa", which will be held from March 1st in Okubo Park (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), is said to be able to enjoy "spring oysters" from March to April. It will be held for the first time this year under the theme of "Spring oysters are the best!"
The oysters that can be harvested in early spring are just before spawning, and they are big and have a good flavor. According to a study (Hiroshima University Graduate School), when the changes in the contents of oyster umami components "glycogen" and "amino acid" were investigated, they reached their maximum from March to April.
This event was planned to let people know the deliciousness of this "spring oyster".
Inside the venue, there is a showcase on the left and a table on the right. The system is that the staff will guide you to your seat when you select what you want to eat from the showcase and complete the checkout.
A stove is installed on the table, and tools for baking such as work gloves, oyster knives, and tongs are lined up. The staff will explain how to bake.
The main oyster is 1,500 yen for 1 kg. You can fully enjoy the plump and big body and creamy taste. In addition, the "special (extra-large) spring oysters with shells" (1,000 yen for two) is a superb dish. You can enjoy the unique flavor of oysters with the natural scent of the tide without soy sauce.
At the venue, not only oysters but also seafood such as scallops and squid and assorted meat are prepared, and you can enjoy a variety of ingredients by baking them yourself. There were side dishes such as ajillo and oyster fry, rice such as "spring oyster rice", and juicy gelato, which overturned the image that "there are only oysters in the oyster hut."
Drinks include beer, highball, and wine. Creamy oysters go well with wine and are recommended.
If you want to change the ingredients or drinks, please ask at the counter provided separately. Drinks can also be purchased at the vending machines on the floor. The only thing that Chu-Hi has is lemons is Hiroshima. Next to the vending machine, there is also a corner where you can buy Hiroshima's specialty products, so if you need souvenirs, buy them here.
It will be held until March 30th. Business hours are from 11:00 to 21:00 (last order 20:00). Admission is free, and in addition to food and drink, a separate barbecue fee (200 yen per person, free for preschoolers) is required. It is said that there will be no time limit at this time, but it may change in the future. Check the official website and Facebook page for the latest information.
