Daikon radish and bacon simmered in butter Recipe

Ingredients Ingredients

: (based on JA Itoshima's recipe)

1/3 daikon radish
50 g bacon
20 g butter
1/2 consommé soup stock
salt and pepper to taste
daikon leaves (if using) to taste

Directions

Peel daikon and cut into 1 x 5 cm sticks. Cut bacon into 1 cm pieces. Also, boil the daikon leaves and chop them.

Fry the bacon in a frying pan with butter.

When browned, add the daikon and fry until the surface becomes transparent, then add 1.5 cups of water (not included in the quantity) and consommé soup stock and bring to a boil.

Bring to a boil, cover and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes. When the daikon is softened, season with salt and pepper to taste and serve. Sprinkle with chopped daikon leaves and you are done!

How does daikon radish and bacon in butter taste?

This is... really... super delicious ......! The sweetness of soft and fresh daikon and the juicy bacon. The richness of the melted butter and consomme wraps around the sweetness of the daikon and the juices of the bacon. The pepper also adds a nice kick to the dish. Give me a highball right now!

Daikon is usually used in Japanese cuisine, but this was a wonderful Western dish. I was a little impressed that such a delicious way of eating daikon existed. Once you try it, you will be addicted to it, so have your favorite beverage on hand and give it a try!
