Canned mackerel and curry are not uncommon in this day and age, but mackerel curry is a bit unusual. And the illustration on the can of an Indian-looking man holding a mackerel.... I was curious about many things, so I tried it.

I tried Saba Curry.
Ingredients include vegetables, mackerel, and curry powder. The manufacturer, Nobuta Canning, is a major seafood cannery in Choshi, Japan.
Transferred to a separate dish and heated in a microwave oven, it is served with rice prepared separately. At this point, you can see that it is filled with large pieces of mackerel.
Warm on a separate plate and serve with rice.
Now it's time to try it. The curry is moderately spicy and rich and thick. It is a typical Japanese curry and goes well with white rice. The whole dish has a slight mackerel flavor. In any case, it does not taste Indian.
