MUJI stores and online stores will begin selling four useful stockpile foods in advance of Disaster Prevention Day: "Stockpiled Rice: White Rice," "Stockpiled Snack: Chocolate Yokan," "Pumpkin Soup with 1/3 Day's Worth of Vegetables," and Tomato Soup" will be available from August 23.

Gohan White Rice

Alpha rice is freshly cooked rice that is quickly dried with hot air. The shelf life is extended by using high-barrier packaging materials that prevent the passage of oxygen and moisture, and by sealing in an oxygen absorber. The shelf life is 4 years in the unopened package. It can be made in 15 minutes with boiling water or 60 minutes with water. The rice stands up like freshly cooked rice and has a fluffy texture. 80g (2.82oz) package (ready-made 200g (7.05oz)), priced at 390 yen (tax included, same as below).

Stockpile Snack Chocolate Yok

an: Moist and easy-to-eat yokan that can be stored for a long time. The carefully kneaded yokan is packaged in a high-barrier film, which gives it a shelf life of up to 4 years and 6 months in its unopened state. It is also individually wrapped to prevent hands from getting dirty when eating. Packaged in a pack of five, the product is priced at 760 yen.
