mirin 1/2 tablespoon

Bamboo shoots are often boiled or stir-fried, but we highly recommend simply turning them into steak! Butter and soy sauce enhance the sweetness of the crunchy bamboo shoots, and this is a great recipe. Personally, this is my favorite way to eat bamboo shoots!

Ingredients



1 bamboo shoot
1 teaspoon butter
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon mirin (sweet sake)

You can buy bamboo shoots boiled in water or remove the scum yourself. adjust the amount of seasoning according to the number and size of bamboo shoots.

Directions

Cut bamboo shoots into round slices about 1 cm thick and pat dry with kitchen paper. Cut the tips in half lengthwise.

Put the sliced bamboo shoots in a frying pan with oil (not included in the quantity) and cook until browned on both sides.

When browned, pour soy sauce and mirin (sweet cooking rice wine) over the bamboo shoots.

Serve in a bowl. Sprinkle parsley or sprouts on top if you like.
