Kikufuku" at Kikusuian, Igata, Tea, Miyagi

Kikufuku" is a famous confectionery of Miyagi Prefecture. It is a "cream Daifuku" sold by Kikusui An of Ocha-no-Igata.

Since there was no store nearby, I purchased "Kikufuku 4 kinds assortment 8 pieces" from the online store of Ocha-no-Igata. The price is 1,028 yen (tax included, shipping not included). They are sent frozen, so allow them to thaw naturally for about an hour before eating.

Flavors include green tea crème, zunda crème, hojicha crème, and fresh cream. All of them have red bean paste and cream wrapped in a thin rice cake.

I'm drawn to all the flavors.

Matcha Crème

Matcha Crème" is one of Kikufuku's most popular flavors, containing red bean paste and matcha crème. The soft rice cake, moist and smooth red bean paste, and fluffy cream are all in one. The elegant sweetness is followed by the refreshing aroma of matcha green tea.

Zunda whipped cream

Zunda Fresh Cream" contains Sendai's famous "Zunda" red bean paste made from mashed edamame and fresh cream. The rich flavor of edamame matches the richness of the cream. It is a delicious and comforting treat.

The texture of the zunda crumbles is delightful.

Hojicha Fresh Cream

The "Hojicha Crème" is made with a luxurious amount of Kyoto-produced hojicha (roasted green tea) in both the cream and the bean paste. The unique aroma and flavor of hojicha tea is softly fragrant. It leaves a subtle astringent taste on the palate.

Fresh Cream

Fresh Cream" is a combination of Hokkaido fresh cream and Koshian (sweet bean paste). The rich flavor of the refined red bean paste and milky cream is sure to be loved by men and women of all ages.

The bean paste is very mouthwatering.

Each one is a delicious blend of Japanese and Western flavors that will make you smile when you taste it. Try them both naturally defrosted for a smooth mouthfeel, or half defrosted for a crispy "iced Daifuku" texture!
