"Restaurant Amigo" is a home-cooked restaurant in Paraguay, South America, located in the restaurant area of Akasaka, Tokyo. It makes you eat eccentric and delicious rice.
The second floor of an inconspicuous building
Restaurant Amigo is located on the 2nd floor of "Sintomi Akasaka No. 2 Building", which is a short walk from Akasaka Subway Station or Tameike Sanno Station.
On the second floor of an inconspicuous building, it's hard to find it on a map on your smartphone, but probably because it's a rare Paraguayan restaurant that has been featured on TV in the past, customers wander around at noon on weekdays. Go in.
All lunch menus are 1,000 yen (tax included, same below), with South American names. According to the shop staff, the most popular and recommended steak is the charcoal-grilled thigh meat "Rabadilla", but if you want a Paraguayan feel, the beef marinade "Marinera de Carne" is recommended. It's good. I'll order that. Also, the cornbread "Sopa Paraguaya" (300 yen) that I was a little worried about.
Marinera de Carnet
What arrived was a thin, large beef with a thick batter and baked. It's cooked so well that it gets browned. Cut and eat with a knife and fork.
When I bite into it, the clothes are crispy on the outside and crispy on the outside, but the inside is a little sloppy. Beef is certainly sour. It is said that it is soaked in vinegar with vegetables and spices in advance. When I thought that it had a lot of saltiness, the white rice I had in the bowl came out. You are free to refill, and you are asked to have as many cups as you like.
I was surprised at the Paraguayan restaurant, but as I was told, I took chopsticks and tried it with Marinera de Carnet as a side dish. The rice goes on and on. It's going to be a real refill, but I can use my reason.
In fact, lunch also comes with soup and salad. The soup is a corn potage, and the mashed corn is delicious. There is also a good amount of salad.
Sopa de ajo
The literal translation of Sopa Paraguaya, which I ordered as a side dish, is "Paraguayan-style soup." But there is an explanation that it is cornbread, that is, corn bread.
A long time ago, a shopkeeper told me that while simmering corn soup in Paraguay, it turned into bread, but this is probably a joke.
When I cut it and eat it, it is a little salty and the egg taste is strong. Impression that it is a hard omelet with corn flour. You can eat deliciously with this alone without anything else.
However, lunch alone is enough, so if you want to order it, it's a good idea to share it with someone.
Coffee and sweets are a bonus!
When I was completely satisfied and hungry, he gave me iced coffee and small sweets. This is a limited-time service that is not on the menu.
The bite-sized sweets are "Alfa jores". A fluffy cookie sprinkled with coconut sandwiched between South American caramel and Dolce de Reche. Iced coffee has a roasted aroma but does not feel bitter or sour, and is associated with barley tea. It goes very well with sweets. I feel very luxurious. I left the restaurant with the feeling that I enjoyed a little course dinner rather than lunch.
